Rio Grande Branch Annual Meeting

Announcement

Friday-Saturday April 6-7, 2018

The Annual Meeting of the Rio Grande Branch of the American Society for Microbiology (RGASM) will be held on the campus of Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado April 6-7, 2018.  We are excited for this second interbranch meeting having last seen our fellow microbiologist colleagues in 2015.

Though the meeting is still being planned, one of this year's keynote speakers will be ASM Distinguished Lecturer Dr. Karl Klose from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  He will present "Killer Bunnies and Bioweapons: Tularemia and Biodefense" Friday night.

Of course, we will also have short 10-15 minute talks and posters given by students, faculty and staff.  As there is only a limited amount of time for short talks, please submit an abstract by February 1, 2018 if you plan to present a short talk and March 1, 2018 for a poster.  Meeting registration and abstract submission information is available at https://tribranchasm.byu.edu/.

Please distribute this newsletter to anyone else you think might attend the conference.

Lodging:
There are many hotels in the Durango area; however, a block of rooms have been reserved at the Strater Hotel where the Friday night reception is planned.  Attendees are responsible for their own accommodations.

Meeting Locations:
Saturday, the meeting will move to Fort Lewis College for the rest of the day. Parking is not restricted.
